Many to Many Assignment
Many-To-Many as a New Media strategy
Exercise 1: What is the New Media solution?
For the first capstone idea, I think solution B embodies the many-to-many principle because it is directed distributed by schoolkids in the Passmaquoddy community who are recording and sharing their grandparents stories from their time in Passmaquoddy. The many-to-many principle is being used used because the group of students are sharing their grandparents stories about the Passamaquoddy language to many people because the stories will be available for people to see on a website. The information about the Passmaquuoddy language will be delivered to many people through the website.
For the second capstone idea, I think Solution B embodies the many-to-many principle because it is directs people to a wesbiste that allows adventueres to print stickers they can leave behind in abandoned buildings they explore. This solution follows the many-to-many principle because it allows the stickers to be scanned by a mobile phone to reveal built to feature photographs taken by those explorers. The reason this solution works as many-to-many because they are taking an idea and making it social so people can get involved and spread the word.
For the third capstone idea, I think Solution B embodies the many-to many principle because it is not only an Ipad application that many people can install, it includes links to companies that create animation software such as Autodesk. Its significant that it includes links to those companies because then they can reach out to those company and share their thoughts and ideas with them. Solution B is mobilizing people because it is providing them with an app they can use on their mobile devices.
For the fourth capstone idea, I think Solution A embodies the many-to-many principle because the idea to meet with the dining hall staff to find out what herbs or vegtables they might add to salads etc is crucial because they are taping into other networks to get help and receive feedback on their idea. The many-to-many principle is apparent in solution A because they are inviting students to pick the resulting parsley and that is allowing people to DIY which gives them freedom and power.
Exericse 2: Invent your own many-to-many solutions
The problem I choose was “The oceans are dying”. I would resolve this problem by having an area in the library where students would see visuals and short movie clips of the ocean and all the issues that are happening to our ocean. The short clips would end with a link to an online site where students can go to watch more films, documents and ask questions etc. The short clips would also end with a questionnaire survery allowing students to talk about their opinons and give feedback. This would be a many-to-many solution because it is is crowding the job by asking students feedback and it is mobile.
