Spontaneous Intervention Projects

1.) One of the spontaneous intervention projects I found interesting was project “Imagination Playground”. This project that David Rockwell started in Manhattan, New York in 2010 has drastically changed the environment children play in. It’s interesting how this New Media project was designed to engage children’s imaginations by allowing children to create and design their own environment. The various parts of the playground that were designed by Rockwell, allow children to change their environment frequently. This project also satisfies children’s parents because they want their children to explore and create themselves. I think this project will grow even more and people will continue to build these playgrounds throughout the world.

2.) Another spontaneous intervention project I wanted to further research was called “SeeClickFix”. First started in New Haven, Conneticut, SeeClickFix enables citizens to report and respond to non-emergency problems that are happening throughout their community. By using the SeeClickFix website or mobile APP, citizens are encouraged to report problems in their city that city officials fail to recognize. Some problems include broken traffic lights, fallen trees, potholes, graffiti, dirty playgrounds, anything that could potentially put the city in danger. The interesting thing about this project is that it allows citizens to contact city officials and well as the media websites and APPS simultaneously. This is helpful because it gets the word out quicker and utlitizies social media in the way that it should be used to help communities. The company has a total of 80 government partners and 700 media partners which makes for a big team.
