Food Research


1.)   Growing up as a kid I had a huge appreciation for food. My mom had an unusual but interesting job as a food stylist. As a food stylist my mom would work for several food companies, food services, food magazines, various TV shows, online food blogs and websites. As a food stylist, my mom would develop various recipes, prepare and cook the food and then stylist the food on a plate for the photographer to take the picture. Since my mom had to constantly cook for work everyday, she would also make my family the best food or just bring home great leftovers from her day at work. Every night growing up as a kid, my family and I would always sit down and eat dinner together. Like I mentioned, my mom would always cook or prep the dinner and I would always help her clean afterwards. I was always used to eating good quality with a meat, carb and vegetable every single night. Eating together every night with my family meant a lot to me. Being able to sit down, have a wonderful meal prepared by my mom and enjoy each other’s company was the greatest thing.

2.)   My mom typically shopped for the food, but if I weren’t too busy I would go to the grocery store and help her shop. My mom always cooked dinner for our family but there were plenty of nights where I would volunteer to help her. I really enjoy cooking and always learning something from watching my mom prepare dinner.

3.)   Since my family is 100 percent Italian, food was always a very important thing that we strongly valued. My mom would always make the best meals that were healthy and enjoyable to eat. She would surprise our family with extraordinary meals every night, which is something I would always look forward to. She would either prepare it fresh every night, or bring home whatever food she had leftover from work that she made that day. Either way, our family always had a good meal to look forward to at night.

4.)   I don’t want to sound fat but I do love to eat. I love to eat good food and enjoy what I am putting in my mouth because I do heavily because in the statement “you are what you eat”. Although sometimes eating is a social thing when I go out to dinner with people or have my cousins over my house, I think eating food is more pleasurable for me than a social thing. Good food is what puts me in a good mood.

5.)   My favorite food is definitely the chicken cutlets that my mom prepares when I’m home. My mom usually serves the chicken with a vegetable and a carb to make the meal balanced, healthy and enjoyable. The context that is it best served is at my house in New Jersey surrounded by the rest of my family and enjoying their company while eating.

6.)   Our relationship with food is important because, like I mentioned before, “you are what you eat”. Food is very essential to our body and determines our health and happiness. Food

7.)   If “you are what you eat” you are whatever food you decide to put into your body. If you put gross junk food into your body than you are simply suggesting that you don’t care about your body and that you are in fact a piece of junk too. If you put nutritious healthy food into your body you are showing that you care about your body and that you are healthy too.

When I think of food I think of community and people. People are generally more content if they are getting the right food in their bodies. I also think of energy when I think of food. Food is energy because it is what we are putting into our bodies to make them run!
